I personally really like the whole idea of Ear Hustle and how interesting the producers make each podcast. It’s beneficial to the listeners because it gives you real life stories from prisoners, where you can feel their emotions by the way they are talking. This is something you can’t really find anywhere else unless you are face to face with a prisoner. I don’t really think that the way Ear Hustle is should change because it’s already easy to work and the way each episode is presented is easy to follow. Ear hustle has definitely changed the way I see incarceration, because you can hear all the horror stories about what happens in prison and to the prisoners but it doesn’t become real unless you actually hear real life experiences. Each person that I’ve listened to in the podcast have had completely different experiences that led them all to the same place. I’ll never forget one podcast that talked about how some man hasn’t had a visitor in 10 years and when you watch a TV show you never really see that happening. A lot of the people that are interviewed for the podcast aren’t what your “typical prisoner” would be, a lot of them realize there mistakes and own up to them, they are making the most of their time in prison by reflecting on their mistakes and seeing how they can lead a positive life once they are released.
